This traditional Japanese fishing method uses fishing rods and artificial bait to find schools of skipjack tuna and catch them one at a time. Also known as “Hane-tsuri,” it allows us to harvest fresh skipjack tuna and is widely recognized as a sustainable and environmentally friendly fishing practice.

Skipjack tuna is a migratory fish found throughout the Pacific Ocean, with peak seasons in spring and autumn.
It is high in protein and low in fat, making it ideal for muscle development and body conditioning.
Rich in DHA and EPA, it supports healthy blood circulation and brain function.
It is also packed with B vitamins for fatigue recovery and potassium to help reduce excess salt and swelling.

The skipjack tuna tataki of Inari Maru is made using exceptionally fresh skipjack tuna caught by our own fishing vessel, and carefully seared to create a beautifully roasted surface. Tender and moist inside, with deep, rich umami, it allows you to enjoy the powerful, natural flavor of skipjack tuna even without relying on condiments. A product that is appreciated both at the family table and as a gift.
Freshness is determined at sea.
Immediately after being caught, the skipjack tuna is rapidly frozen onboard to preserve peak quality.
After arriving at port, the tuna is unloaded and promptly transferred to onshore cold storage facilities.
To maintain freshness, the tuna remains frozen throughout the entire processing stage.
From the moment the skipjack tuna is landed, through processing, shipping, and delivery, it is handled under thorough temperature control and never thawed even once. Locking in its freshness and umami, we bring you the authentic taste of just-caught tuna.
